Organic and Natural

Skin Care

The skin is the largest organ of the body.  It is not just a cover to keep us together!  It is a two way membrane.  One way is from inside – perspiration not only cools the body but also expels toxins.  The skin absorbs via hair follicles and sebaceous glands.  There are millions of these all over the body.  So it stands to reason that the skin is going to absorb whatever is placed on it.  Many so called skin “care” products contain harmful chemical ingredients.  These enter the body via the skin and are absorbed into the blood stream.

Many products that are used by the majority of people are full of toxins.  We would not be allowed to take many of these chemicals orally but it has been seen as OK to plaster our skins with them.

We are, however, left to our own devices as far as working out what is meant by “natural” and “organic” as far as skin care product manufacturers are concerned.  There is no authority which governs the ingredients which can or cannot be used in these products.  More importantly there is no authority to regulate the use of the words “organic” and “natural”.
